US-Iran tit-for-tat attacks escalate in West Asia

The conflict between the United States and Iran has intensified, marked by a series of retaliatory strikes. Two US soldiers were killed and another went missing following Iranian missile and drone attacks on Jordan, according to US Central Command (CENTCOM). These casualties bring the total number of US military personnel confirmed killed since February 28 to 16.

The US has responded with its eighth consecutive day of airstrikes targeting Iranian military infrastructure, including units allegedly responsible for the attack that killed its soldiers in Jordan. This escalation follows Iran's attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran claims to have targeted two US military bases in Kuwait with drones, hitting ammunition depots and radar systems. Kuwait reported responding to another wave of Iranian drone and missile attacks, while sirens were also heard in Bahrain. Iranian news agencies also reported US strikes in Sirik, a port in southern Iran. The Iranian Ministry of Health stated that 50 people were killed and over 500 injured since the conflict escalated.
