US-Israel delay Iran strike after Saudi Crown Prince's 'advice'

A planned U.S. strike on Iran was reportedly postponed after Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman intervened, urging President Donald Trump to de-escalate tensions in the Middle East. The Crown Prince contacted Trump on Saturday, expressing concerns about the planned attack and advocating for restraint, according to a source familiar with the conversation.

The White House had indicated on Friday that Trump was considering new strikes against Iran amid ongoing pressure for Tehran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Washington also demanded Iran adhere to the terms of a ceasefire agreement reached the previous month, though this agreement proved short-lived.

Trump claimed that Iran and other West Asian nations requested a delay to finalize an agreement that would immediately and comprehensively reopen the Strait of Hormuz and end Iran's nuclear threat. He stated he agreed to the delay "for the future benefit of the world and the successful and prosperous continuation of Iran." He also alleged that Israel would participate in the strikes. Meanwhile, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, and Pakistan joined calls for de-escalation between the U.S. and Iran.
