US Kok-Boru Players Honor First Coach in Kyrgyzstan

Players from the U.S. Kok-Boru team, led by captain Ladd Howell, visited the home of their first coach, Mirlan Srazhdinov, in Kyrgyzstan to pay their respects. The team presented commemorative gifts to Srazhdinov's family, honoring his memory and contributions to the sport.

The athletes spoke warmly of their former mentor, who played a crucial role in fostering connections between American and Kyrgyzstani Kok-Boru players. Srazhdinov's influence extended beyond his coaching duties; he was instrumental in establishing and developing the U.S. team's presence in the sport.

Srazhdinov had coached the U.S. national team during the World Nomad Games in both 2016 and 2018. His dedication to the sport was evident throughout his career. He was a prominent player and captain for the team "BoruLu" from 1997 to 2016, and he represented the Kyrgyzstan national team at the inaugural World Nomad Games in 2014.

Tragically, Mirlan Srazhdinov passed away on March 12, 2025, while participating in a Kok-Boru match. His death was a significant loss to the Kok-Boru community, both in Kyrgyzstan and internationally, given his role in bridging cultures through the sport.
