US Military Conducts Tenth Attack Wave on Iranian Targets

For the tenth consecutive night, the United States military has targeted military installations within Iran, according to U.S. Central Command (Centcom). The strikes, which reportedly concluded after five hours early Tuesday, aimed at degrading Iran's capabilities to threaten commercial shipping, particularly in the vital Strait of Hormuz. Targets included air defense systems, command centers, and facilities for launching drones and missiles.

These ongoing strikes come amid retaliatory actions from Tehran against countries hosting U.S. military bases in the region. The U.S. military's sustained campaign aims to weaken Iran's capacity to interfere with maritime traffic. The Strait of Hormuz, a critical chokepoint for global oil, gas, and fertilizer trade, has become a focal point of the escalating conflict between the two nations.

Adding to the tensions, a tanker was attacked in the Strait of Hormuz overnight. The vessel was reportedly struck by an "unknown projectile" off the coast of Oman, near the Omani town of Limah, according to the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO). This incident follows a similar attack on a ship off Oman's coast just the previous day, which resulted in a fire. Iran has previously insisted that ships must follow routes along its own coast, asserting that only these designated paths are safe.

The dispute over the regulation of passage through the Strait of Hormuz is a primary driver of the current escalation between the U.S. and Iran. Reports from the Fars news agency indicated multiple explosions in the vicinity of Qeshm Island and the major city of Bandar Abbas during the night's operations.
