US Military Neutralizes Oil Tanker Attempting to Breach Iranian Port Blockade

The United States military reported neutralizing an oil tanker that allegedly attempted to break through a U.S.-imposed blockade of Iranian ports. The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) stated that the ship's crew ignored multiple warnings and made at least four attempts to continue its journey toward Iran.

CENTCOM spokesperson Tim Hawkins confirmed that U.S. forces fired on the tanker after its crew failed to comply with repeated warnings. "We neutralized the oil tanker after its crew attempted to force the blockade at least four times," Hawkins said. "The crew was warned multiple times but did not comply, and U.S. forces in the area fired on the engine room. The ship is no longer heading towards Iran."

U.S. authorities have not yet released information regarding the vessel's flag, its cargo, or whether there were any casualties. Iranian authorities have also not yet commented on the incident. The event occurs amid heightened tensions in the Persian Gulf, with increased confrontations between the U.S. and Iran in recent weeks.
