US strikes Iran again, Iran attacks Bahrain, Qatar, Jordan, Kuwait

The United States conducted a third round of strikes against Iran this week, following an Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps attack on the Cyprus-flagged container ship M/V GFS Galaxy in the Strait of Hormuz. The U.S. Central Command stated the vessel suffered significant damage and a civilian crew member went missing.

Iran confirmed the U.S. strikes, with reports indicating five cities in the Bushehr province were targeted. In retaliation, Iran launched attacks targeting American interests in several Gulf countries, including Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, and Jordan. Officials in Qatar reported at least three injuries resulting from debris from intercepted missiles.

Both Iran and the U.S. are accusing each other of violating a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) governing passage through the Strait of Hormuz. While the U.S. alleges Iran has attacked ships, Iran claims the U.S. is attempting to establish a passage corridor without Iranian approval, asserting the MoU requires Iran's consent for the free passage of ships.

A civilian crew member is missing and the vessel is unable to continue the journey due to an onboard fire and significant engineroom damage.
