US threatens Iran as Houthis claim strikes on Saudi tankers

U.S. President Donald Trump issued a stern warning against Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen, threatening significant military retaliation if they persist in attacking commercial vessels in the Red Sea. Trump explicitly stated that Iran would be held accountable for the Houthi actions, characterizing the rebels as a proxy force.

"If they do this again, the US will hold Iran responsible, in that the Houthis are a surrogate and/or proxy of Iran, and major military punishment will be inflicted upon Iran and, of course, the Houthis themselves," Trump posted on his Truth Social platform. He expressed disappointment, noting that the Houthis had previously acted "professionally and smart."
