Utusan Malaysia Photographer Wins Third Place in Kelantan Media Awards

A striking image of four students navigating floodwaters, their belongings precariously balanced on a water tank cover, has earned Utusan Malaysia photographer Kamarul Bismi Kamaruzaman third place in the best news photo category at the Kelantan Media Awards 2025 (AMK 25).

The award ceremony, held in Kota Bharu, was organized by the Kelantan State Government in collaboration with the Kelantan Media Club of Darul Naim (Kemudi) as part of the National Journalists' Day (HAwana) celebrations for the state in 2026. Kamarul Bismi received a trophy and a cash prize of RM300 for his compelling photograph.

Expressing his gratitude, Kamarul Bismi stated that the award serves as a significant motivator to continue producing high-quality visuals for Utusan Malaysia. He added, "God willing, I will strive to present even more quality visuals in the future." The award presentation was officiated by the Chief Minister of Kelantan, Datuk Mohd. Nassuruddin Daud, recognizing the vital role of photojournalism in documenting significant events.
