Uzbekistan Becomes Top Buyer of Kyrgyz Honey as Exports Surge

Kyrgyzstan's natural honey exports surged in early 2026, with shipments reaching 186.1 tons in the first five months. This represents a substantial 33.6% increase compared to the same period in 2025, according to data from the National Statistical Committee. The total value of these exports amounted to $640,700, marking a 15.7% rise in foreign currency earnings. Uzbekistan has become the leading destination for Kyrgyz honey, with purchases escalating by an impressive 6.8 times to 103.3 tons, valued at $88,200. While Uzbekistan leads in volume, Japan stands out as the most lucrative market, securing the top spot for export value. Kyrgyzstan sent 20.8 tons of honey to Japan, generating $204,000. China also imported a considerable amount, with 34.9 tons valued at $190,700, despite a 40.8% decrease in physical volume, the value saw an 8.6% increase. The United Arab Emirates purchased 9.4 tons for $41,500. Shipments to Russia have also recommenced, with 1.5 tons exported in the first five months, bringing in $19,000. This renewed trade with Russia adds another dimension to Kyrgyzstan's expanding honey export market.
