Valeria del Campo's Late Goal Gives Monterrey 2-1 Win Over Tijuana

Costa Rican international Valeria del Campo scored the decisive goal, securing a 2-1 victory for Monterrey over Tijuana in the opening match of the Mexican women's football Apertura season. The win came on Saturday, August 1, 2026.

Monterrey's other goal was scored by South African player Jermaine Seoposenwe. Tijuana had initially taken the lead with a goal from Turkish player Kander Hancar. Tijuana started the match aggressively, controlling possession and pressing Monterrey. Seoposenwe capitalized on a mistake by Monterrey's Daiane Santos in the 10th minute, lobbing the ball over goalkeeper Paola Manrique for the opening goal.
