Valuable addition for kidney cure

Kuwait has inaugurated the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah Kidney Dialysis Center in the Ahmadi Health District, a facility established through a significant donation from the heirs of the late Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. This new center represents a substantial addition to Kuwait's kidney patient treatment system and carries a humanitarian message.

Once fully operational, the center is projected to cater to around 500 hemodialysis patients and 100 peritoneal dialysis patients. This opening continues the legacy of contributions from Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad's family to the healthcare sector. Previously, in 2013, his heirs donated a kidney dialysis center to Al-Jahra Hospital.

The new facility in East Ahmadi is equipped with 83 dialysis units, including isolation rooms, peritoneal dialysis rooms, a biochemistry laboratory, and various other medical and administrative support services. It is built on a 2,650 square meter plot with a total building area of 10,250 square meters, spanning a basement, ground floor, and three upper floors.

The center addresses a critical need in the Ahmadi Health District, where 519 patients currently receive dialysis. The Minister of Health, Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi, emphasized the center's importance during its inauguration, highlighting the continuous treatment required by dialysis patients and how the new facility aims to reduce waiting times and improve patient comfort.
