ValueJet seeks Boeing simulator in Nigeria to cut FX losses

The Chief Executive Officer of Nigerian airline ValueJet, Capt. Omololu Majekodunmi, has called on aircraft manufacturer Boeing to establish a flight simulator within Nigeria.

Majekodunmi stated that such a facility would significantly benefit the Nigerian aviation sector. Key advantages include reducing the outflow of foreign exchange, which is currently spent on training pilots abroad. Additionally, it would lower overall training expenses for airlines and contribute to improving aviation safety standards in the country.

This appeal coincides with Boeing's commencement of its first tranche of advanced technical training programs, suggesting a potential alignment of interests between the airline and the aircraft manufacturer.

The initiative by ValueJet highlights a push within Nigeria's aviation industry to develop local capacity and mitigate financial burdens associated with international training requirements.
