Van driver killed en route to aid disabled brother-in-law

A fatal highway accident claimed the life of a 42-year-old van driver as he was traveling from Johor Bahru to Tangkak, Johor. The journey's purpose was to assist his brother-in-law, who has Down Syndrome, with welfare arrangements. The victim, Misfitiriah Basar, was on his way to Serom, Tangkak, for this task, which had fallen to him after his mother-in-law passed away a few months prior.

Mohammad B. Abas, the victim's 69-year-old uncle, shared that the family was heading to Tangkak for the welfare matters. He noted that the accident occurred around midnight, possibly due to the darkness. The deceased was laid to rest at Kampung Bakar Batu cemetery after the Asar prayer, with about 50 family members and friends attending the funeral.

Tragically, the 30-something disabled brother-in-law and two of the victim's children were injured in the crash. They are currently receiving medical attention at Hospital Enche’ Besar Hajjah Khalsom in Kluang. The incident serves as a somber reminder of the risks of nighttime travel on highways.
