Vehicle hits crowd during Berlin Pride celebration

Berlin's Pride Day celebration was disrupted when a vehicle plowed into a crowd in Tiergarten park, resulting in multiple injuries. Local police confirmed that several people were hurt, though the exact number has not been specified, and they are actively working to locate the suspects. The Berlin Police issued a statement via X, detailing their deployment of numerous police forces and rescue teams from the Berlin Fire Department in the Great Zoological Garden. "Presumably, a vehicle has burst into the Tiergarten, has run over several people and injured them. The injured are currently being attended to by the rescue teams. We are intensely searching for the persons suspected of the acts," the police stated. The incident occurred at night near Lennéstraße, one of the streets bordering the park, according to local media outlet Bild. Shortly after, the march organizers canceled the event and urged attendees to evacuate the area. The message "evacuation" was displayed on one of the giant screens at the Brandenburg Gate. Via Instagram, they called for people to leave the nearby streets "calmly and in order" and asked demonstrators to avoid the Victory Column and Tiergarten park, advising them to "leave the area in the direction of the central train station." The Berlin Police also urged people to avoid the area and try to circle around it for egress, stating, "A larger police operation is underway in the Tiergarten. The area is cordoned off by our intervention forces. Please avoid the area and circle it widely. A media assistance point has been set up at the campsite." The annual Berlin Pride celebration commemorates the 1969 Stonewall rebellion in New York.
