Velomarathon Fulfills a Dream: Electric Bike for Ben Battling Lymphoma

The Rimantas Kaukėnas Support Fund brought a dream to life for Ben, a young man facing a difficult battle with lymphoma, during their annual Velomarathon event. Ben, whose life was upended by an aggressive chemotherapy regimen, received an electric bicycle, a gift he had wished for.

"The emotions are amazing, I feel very happy and grateful," Ben said. "This is not just about the bicycle and that I really wanted it and you all contributed to gifting it to me. It's about the feeling that you are not alone with your illness... Thank you to everyone who supports and everyone who contributes to the well-being of other sick children."

The Velomarathon, held in Lithuania, is more than just a cycling event; it's a community gathering aimed at providing emotional support and practical assistance to children and families dealing with severe illnesses. This year's focus was on Ben, whose positive outlook and future plans, even amidst his diagnosis, inspired many.

The event itself was a vibrant affair, offering face painting, hair styling, and reaction games for attendees of all ages. Several public figures, including Vytautas Rumšas Jr. and Deividas Česnauskis, joined the fund's community to support Ben and the initiative. The Rimantas Kaukėnas Support Fund has been assisting children with oncological diseases in Lithuania since 2012.
