The Venezuelan shooting team has achieved significant success at the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo, clinching both gold and silver medals in the men's 10-meter air pistol event. The national team, comprising Douglas Gómez (son), Diego Oduber Medina, and Rafael Ochoa, dominated the competition with an impressive combined score of 1,683 points.

Their collective performance secured them the top spot, edging out Mexico by a single point. Mexico finished with 1,682 points, while Guatemala took the bronze with 1,680 points. This victory highlights the strength and precision of Venezuela's shooting athletes on the regional stage.

In the individual standings, Diego Oduber Medina continued to shine, earning a silver medal in the same 10-meter air pistol competition. Medina accumulated 232.2 points, narrowly missing the gold medal to Mexico's David Valdez, who scored 234.2. Sebastián Sánchez of Colombia secured the bronze medal with 212.1 points.

Douglas Gómez also delivered a strong individual performance, finishing in sixth place with 150.4 points. The team's overall success reflects dedicated training and a high level of skill, contributing valuable medals to Venezuela's tally at the games.
