Venezuelan footballers start August with club victories in Ukraine, Colombia, and MLS

Venezuelan footballers are starting August with victories for their respective clubs across Europe and the Americas. Gleiker Mendoza made his official debut for Shakhtar Donetsk, contributing to their dominant 5-1 win against Kudrivka in the Ukrainian Premier League.

Mendoza, who played 68 minutes, had been anticipated to debut for his new club. He started the match, which Shakhtar led 2-1 before his substitution. The win solidifies Shakhtar's position as the reigning Ukrainian champions. Mendoza had previously played 33 matches for Kryvbas in the same league, scoring twelve goals and providing twelve assists.

In Colombia, Edson Tortolero played a full match in América de Cali's resounding 7-0 victory over Boyacá Chicó. Tortolero, a two-time champion with Carabobo, was involved in the fifth and sixth goals. He expressed his happiness at joining a major South American club, stating, "God brought me to a giant of South American football, a giant of Colombian football, and I am happy to be here."

Meanwhile, Kevin Kelsy is maintaining his scoring form in Major League Soccer for the Portland Timbers. He has scored four goals in his last three matches, including a brace against Seattle Sounders and a goal in a draw against Dallas. Kelsy has now registered nine goals and two assists in his third MLS season. He had previously scored in three consecutive games between July 16 and August 1.
