Venezuelan organizations report at least 35 political prisoner releases

Venezuelan human rights organizations announced on Friday the release of at least 35 political prisoners, marking a significant development in the ongoing struggle for civil liberties. The Foro Penal, a prominent legal group, confirmed 17 individuals had been freed by 4:00 p.m., with the process continuing throughout the afternoon.

Gonzalo Himiob Santomé, vice president of Foro Penal, urged patience for verified and complete information, stating that the release process was still underway. He noted that each case requires careful verification before a final tally can be released. Among those confirmed released are Yolimar Alemán, Daniel Zambrano, Marifrancys Marcano, and Jylman Red Jurado, with many others also gaining their freedom.

Until now (...) we have been able to confirm 17 releases of political prisoners today. It is a process that is still ongoing. We ask for patience for the dissemination of verified and complete information.

The organization Justicia, Encuentro y Perdón (JEPVzla) specifically celebrated the release of Alemán and Zambrano, emphasizing that the push for the unconditional release of all political prisoners must continue. "We encourage progress that leads to the full and unconditional release of all political prisoners in Venezuela," JEPVzla stated on social media, expressing deep emotion for the freed individuals and their families while anticipating the return of all victims of political imprisonment.

Later, the Committee for the Freedom of Political Prisoners reported the release of 25 individuals associated with the Plaza Venezuela case from the El Rodeo I penitentiary. This group included Elías Noriega, Javier Morillo, and Merwin Simons, among others. Images and reports from outside El Rodeo I showed the group demanding justice and reminding the public that many political prisoners remain detained. The organization pledged to continue verifying the status of all detainees.
