Venezuelan police assault elderly woman during protest

Human rights organizations have strongly condemned the incident. The NGO Un Mundo Sin Mordaza denounced the disproportionate use of force against defenseless civilians. "We denounce the serious physical aggression perpetrated by officials of the Bolivarian National Police (PNB) against an elderly woman who was protesting peacefully," the organization stated on X, adding that the officers "hit the elderly protester and threw her to the ground violently while she exercised her constitutional right to protest."

Un Mundo Sin Mordaza further stated that "the repression of our elderly is a flagrant violation of human rights." The organization has demanded that authorities immediately identify and sanction the officers involved in the incident. The event is part of a series of mobilizations by families of detainees who continue to report harsh prison conditions, lack of family visits, and procedural delays in cases of those held for political reasons.
