Venezuelan prospect Franklin Arias open to LVBP play, has spoken with Magallanes

Franklin Arias, considered one of Venezuela's top prospects in minor league baseball, has not ruled out playing in the 2026-2027 season of the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP). Arias, a key player in the Boston Red Sox farm system, expressed his interest in playing locally during a radio interview.

"I have spoken with them (Magallanes)," Arias stated, referring to the team. "There is still season here. I would like to play in Venezuela, but my mind is still here (in the U.S.)." The infielder is currently playing for the Red Sox's Triple-A affiliate, where he is highly valued and ranked among the top prospects in Major League Baseball organizations.

This season, Arias boasts a .315 batting average over 88 games across Double-A and Triple-A. He has hit 22 home runs and driven in 66 runs, with an on-base percentage of .399. His performance has also been strong in the field. Arias was also selected for the All-Star Futures Game, an event from which MLB statistics indicate 86.8% of participants eventually reach the major leagues.
