Vente Miranda Swears In Citizen Councils in Baruta

Vente Venezuela swore in new Citizen Councils in Baruta as the opposition organization seeks to strengthen its political structure and community work in Miranda state. Local teams attended the event alongside state, national and metropolitan leaders, in a gathering the party presented as evidence of growing grassroots support.

The organization’s leadership used the ceremony to renew its demand for a date for Venezuela’s presidential elections. It called for a definitive electoral timetable and promoted the slogans “Set the date, we have the votes” and “elections now.”

Anthony Romero, Vente’s coordinator in Miranda, said he spent nearly 600 days underground after the July 28, 2024 elections. He described that period as the price of belonging to María Corina Machado’s organization and wearing its blue shirt as a symbol of struggle.

Fabiana Garantón, the organization’s political secretary for the Metropolitan Area, praised the depth of its work in Baruta and the strength of its local organization. She said reconstruction meant rebuilding institutions and the country as a whole, under what she called the strongest and most organized movement led by Machado.
