Veteran Nigerian Actor Taiwo Hassan 'Ogogo' Buried in Ilaro

The final burial ceremony for veteran Nigerian actor and screenwriter Taiwo Hassan, widely known as Ogogo, is currently underway in his hometown of Ilaro, Ogun State. Hassan passed away on Sunday following a protracted struggle with stage-four cancer.

His remains arrived in Ilaro late Sunday, where mourners gathered to pay their final respects to the beloved film icon and offer condolences to his grieving family. A special prayer session is taking place at the Asade Agunloye Pavilion, drawing notable figures from the Nigerian entertainment industry.

Among the prominent actors present to honor Hassan are Yinka Quadri, Jide Kosoko, Femi Adebayo, Toyosi Adesanya, Ireti Osayemi, Sunny Alli, and Muyideen “Lala” Oladapo. Their attendance underscores Hassan's significant impact and respected position within the film community.

Hassan's journey in the entertainment industry began in 1981 while he was employed as a mechanic. He made the pivotal decision to leave his job at the water corporation in 1994 to fully dedicate himself to acting. Throughout his prolific career, Ogogo featured in a vast array of films, including "Atitebi," "Agbelebu," "Agbo-Odaju," "Danfo Driver," "Owo Blow," "Amerah," "Aníkúlápó," "Bank Alert," "IGE," and "Aníkúlápó: Rise of the Spectre," among many others.
