VFF expands medical network to serve Vietnamese football

The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) has officially announced that Phenikaa University Hospital will join its Sports Medicine Network, a program coordinated by the VFF's Sports Medicine Department. This move signifies a commitment to strengthening medical support for professional football in Vietnam.

The Sports Medicine Network is considered a cornerstone for the sustainable growth of professional football. The VFF's initiative aims to establish a unified and comprehensive medical support system, encompassing everything from emergency first aid and treatment to specialized rehabilitation for players and athletes across the country.

Phenikaa University Hospital meets the VFF's stringent requirements, boasting practical specialties such as Orthopedic Trauma, Cardiology-Pulmonology, and Rehabilitation-Physical Therapy, all supported by modern technological infrastructure. The hospital's inclusion is expected to bolster the network's expertise and foster closer collaboration between the VFF and medical institutions, ultimately standardizing healthcare for professional footballers and national teams.

The medical team from Phenikaa University Hospital includes prominent figures like Professor Dr. Cao Minh Chau, a leading expert in Rehabilitation, and Master Dr. Nguyen Ba Son, Deputy Head of General Surgery and a specialist in Orthopedic Trauma and Sports Medicine. Dr. Son emphasized that the collaboration extends beyond injury treatment to include preventive measures, long-term health monitoring, rehabilitation, sports nutrition, and the professionalization of football medicine.

This expansion of the VFF's Sports Medicine Network is part of a broader strategy to create a comprehensive, modern, and synchronized healthcare system for Vietnamese athletes. The VFF has previously partnered with leading hospitals, enabling rapid recovery for key players, including Nguyen Xuan Son, who returned to top-level competition after a severe injury, highlighting the necessity of such medical advancements for the professionalization of Vietnamese football.
