VFS Global issues critical warning against visa appointment fraud

VFS Global, a key official intermediary for visa application processes for numerous countries including the UK and Schengen states in Turkey, has issued a critical warning against fraudulent schemes. These scams target citizens who face difficulties in obtaining visa appointment slots.

The company strongly advises the public to disregard individuals and companies claiming to secure appointments for a fee or guarantee visa outcomes. VFS Global emphasized that visa appointments are entirely free of charge. All applications must be submitted exclusively through the institution's official channels.

Furthermore, VFS Global clarified its role, stating that it manages administrative aspects such as accepting applications, handling documents, and processing biometric data. The ultimate decision on whether to grant a visa rests solely with the diplomatic missions of the respective countries. Appointment quotas are also determined by governments, embassies, and consulates, not by VFS Global.

To combat the misuse of its appointment systems, VFS Global has implemented various security measures. These include blocking suspicious email domains, limiting appointments per email, automatically blocking unusual IP access, restricting VPN usage, employing a waiting list system, and using one-time password (OTP) verification. The company also reiterated that optional premium and value-added services offered at visa application centers do not influence the outcome or processing time of a visa application.
