Rauf Aregbesola, Nigeria's former Minister of Interior and ex-governor of Osun State, has asserted that he is the first governor in the nation's history to complete an eight-year term without owning a personal house. The claim was made in a video that started circulating online on Thursday.

Aregbesola, who served as Osun State governor from 2010 to 2018, stated that he resided in a friend's home for the entirety of his tenure. "I'm the first governor in Nigeria to rule a state for eight years without owning a house of my own," he declared in the video. He further challenged anyone to disprove his statement, saying, "Whoever says that what I’m saying is not true should come out and show me the house I own."

Following his governorship, Aregbesola was appointed Minister of Interior under the late President Muhammadu Buhari's administration. During his time leading Osun State, his administration pursued policies focused on poverty reduction, employment, and hunger alleviation, alongside initiatives in education, healthcare, and community development.
