VIDEO: Ogogo’s wife weeps as late actor is buried

Emotional scenes marked the burial of veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, in Ilaro, Ogun State, on Monday.

One of Ogogo's wives was visibly overcome with grief, breaking down in tears as mourners gathered to bid farewell to the 66-year-old actor. Videos from the burial venue showed women consoling her as family, friends, and colleagues paid their respects. The actor's remains were carried towards the burial ground in accordance with Islamic rites.

Close friends and colleagues, including actor Yinka Quadri, who was also seen crying, and actors like Jide Kosoko, Faithia Balogun, and Femi Adebayo, were present to honor Ogogo. Actor Bola Oyin-Adejobi paid tribute, praying for the deceased to attain paradise.

The burial followed a lying-in-state ceremony held earlier the same day in Ilaro, Ogogo's hometown. The actor passed away on Sunday at 3 pm. His death came shortly after his daughters appealed for medical assistance for him, as he was battling stage-four cancer. Doctors had reportedly informed the family that chemotherapy was no longer an option due to his condition.

Ogogo was a highly respected figure in the Nigerian film industry, particularly for his extensive contributions to Yoruba-language films. His career, which spanned more than four decades, saw him feature in hundreds of movies, establishing him as one of the most recognizable actors in Yoruba cinema.
