Ogun APC gubernatorial candidate Solomon Adeola has mourned the death of veteran actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, stating that he and his wife provided extensive support for the actor's medical treatment.

In a tribute posted on Facebook, Adeola said he and his family stood by Ogogo and his family during the actor's illness, offering support and remaining hopeful for his recovery. "During those difficult moments, we stood closely with him and his family, supporting his treatment and doing everything humanly possible to ensure that he received the necessary medical care," the statement read.

Adeola described Ogogo as more than an entertainment veteran; he was a "dear brother" and a proud son of Ilaro and Ogun West. The actor's career, Adeola noted, brought joy to generations and significantly contributed to the growth of the Nigerian film industry. "His talent, humility and enduring body of work will ensure that his memory lives on," Adeola added.

Ogogo's daughters had previously acknowledged Adeola's support, clarifying that their appeal was for medical intervention rather than financial donations. The actor died on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at the age of 66, after a battle with cancer. His remains were taken to his hometown, Ilaro, for burial according to Islamic rites.
