Video: Strong winds wreak havoc in Concepción

Concepción, Paraguay, experienced severe weather on Saturday afternoon, with strong winds causing widespread destruction. The storm, accompanied by electrical storms and heavy rain, began after 4:00 PM, uprooting trees, tearing roofs off homes, and damaging billboards and even motorcycles.

Residents in various neighborhoods of Concepción reported substantial material losses. In the city center, a large tree fell onto power lines, causing disruptions. Elsewhere, zinc roofing sheets were dislodged from a private property's fence, and homes in the Inmaculada and San José Olero neighborhoods lost their roofs, resulting in considerable damage.

The storm also impacted local infrastructure, affecting the antenna tower of the community radio station San José Comunicaciones. In the Villa Alta sector, a massive tree fell near a house, with occupants reportedly escaping injury by a miracle. Many residents also experienced power outages during the storm.

The meteorological service had previously issued updated storm alerts for Asunción and eleven other departments, indicating the severity of the weather system affecting the region.
