Vietnam approves four-day holiday for Cultural Day in 2026

Vietnam's General Confederation of Labour has agreed to a proposal for a four-day continuous holiday for Vietnam Cultural Day on November 24, 2026. This extended break will allow public employees and officials to participate in cultural activities and enjoy spiritual values, creating a festive atmosphere.

The plan involves shifting the working day of Monday, November 23, to Saturday, November 28. This arrangement will create a long weekend, from Saturday, November 21, to Tuesday, November 24. The General Confederation of Labour believes this extended holiday will not only benefit employees but also stimulate consumption and services, contributing to economic growth.

The four-day holiday is to create favorable conditions for public employees and officials to participate in cultural activities, enjoy spiritual values, and create a joyful, enthusiastic atmosphere with strong and deep impressions when they first have a holiday for Vietnam Cultural Day.

Several ministries and government bodies, including the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of Construction, have also expressed their agreement with the four-day holiday proposal. This aligns with the National Assembly's resolution to establish November 24 as Vietnam Cultural Day, a paid public holiday starting in 2026.

In addition to the Cultural Day holiday, the General Confederation of Labour also agreed to a proposed seven-day Lunar New Year holiday in 2027. This includes five days off as per regulations, with two days before the Tết holiday and three days after.
