Vietnam Boosts Child Protection Efforts Through Health Ministry Partnership

Vietnam's Ministry of Health has partnered with a prominent healthcare ecosystem to strengthen initiatives focused on the health and well-being of women, mothers, and children. The collaboration, formalized through a memorandum of understanding, brings together the Ministry, the Tâm Anh General Hospital, VNVC Vaccination Centers, ECO Pharmaceuticals, and Nutrihome Nutrition.

The contents of the commitment should be realized soon through specific programs and activities, thereby contributing to the successful implementation of the objectives of the National Strategy for Protection, Care and Improvement of People's Health until 2030, with a vision to 2045; building a generation of healthy, safe and comprehensively developed Vietnamese children.

The agreement prioritizes key areas, including joint communication and community education on healthcare for women, mothers, and children. It also involves organizing training activities, workshops, and seminars to enhance the professional capabilities of healthcare staff in related fields. A significant focus will be placed on developing and distributing specialized materials, handbooks, and communication products to support child protection efforts.

Notably, the partnership aims to bolster the effectiveness of Vietnam's national child protection hotline, 111. This hotline serves as a critical "red alert line" for child protection, enabling swift intervention by a multi-sectoral system upon reports or suspicions of abuse. The collaboration intends to increase public awareness of the hotline, ensuring it reaches all communities, industrial zones, and high-risk families.

The National Child Protection Hotline 111 is considered a 'red alert line' in child protection. When signs of abuse are detected or suspected, people just need to call 111 for the inter-sectoral system to immediately activate intervention.

Deputy Minister of Health Nguyễn Tri Thức urged the swift implementation of the agreed-upon programs, emphasizing their role in achieving national health strategies and fostering the comprehensive development of Vietnamese children. The healthcare ecosystem partners highlighted their commitment to providing integrated healthcare services, extending quality medical care, and specialized nutritional advice to remote and underserved areas, aligning with national disease prevention programs.
