Vietnam commune launches environmental drive, plants 210 trees

Vĩnh Lộc commune in Vietnam launched a sweeping environmental campaign on June 6, combining efforts for World Environment Day and the 16th ASEAN Dengue Prevention Day. The initiative, spearheaded by the local Party Committee, People's Council, and government, aims to foster a collective responsibility for environmental protection and combat dengue fever.

"Every person is a green citizen, every family a green space, every residential area, agency, and religious facility a green community," stated Trần Huỳnh Anh, Vice Chairman of the Vĩnh Lộc Commune People's Committee. He urged all residents and organizations to participate in regular cleanups and dengue prevention efforts, emphasizing that small actions contribute to significant community change.

The event featured a parade promoting environmental care and dengue prevention, a program exchanging plastic waste for gifts, and the planting of 210 trees along local roads. Enforcement actions were also taken, with 20 violation reports issued and fines totaling 5.6 million Vietnamese dong for offenses related to traffic safety and urban order, including the removal of illegal advertisements.

Volunteers collected nearly a ton of trash along Rạch Cầu Suối and cleared overgrown vegetation. The campaign successfully engaged numerous local officials, union members, and residents, visibly improving the local landscape and living environment.
