Vietnam Labor Confederation Requests Early Announcement of 2027 April 30-May 1 Holiday Schedule

Vietnam's General Confederation of Labor has formally requested the Ministry of Home Affairs to promptly release the official holiday schedule for April 30 and May 1, 2027. This proactive measure aims to provide workers and businesses with ample time to organize their personal and operational plans.

The confederation submitted its response to the Ministry of Home Affairs on August 11, regarding proposed holiday arrangements for Vietnam Culture Day in 2026, the Lunar New Year, and National Day in 2027. The organization supports a four-day holiday for Vietnam Culture Day (November 24, 2026) and a seven-day break for the Lunar New Year.

For the April 30 and May 1 holidays in 2027, the confederation specifically proposed a continuous four-day break, from Friday, April 30, to Monday, May 3. This aligns with the Labor Code's provision for a compensatory day off when a public holiday falls on a weekend. May 1, 2027, is a Saturday, thus entitling workers to a day off on the following Monday.

Furthermore, the confederation agreed with the Ministry of Home Affairs' proposal for a four-day National Day holiday in 2027, from September 2 to September 5. This extended break is intended to allow civil servants and public employees to better prepare for and attend the school year's opening ceremonies with their children.
