Vietnam Organizes International Roadshow for North-South High-Speed Rail Project

Vietnam is actively seeking international partners and expertise for its ambitious North-South high-speed rail project, a critical infrastructure initiative aimed at revolutionizing domestic transportation. The Ministry of Construction, through the Thang Long Project Management Board, is hosting an international roadshow to engage potential consultants for the feasibility study and Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) package. This move signifies Vietnam's commitment to developing a modern, efficient, and safe rail network capable of speeds up to 350 km/h. The project, spanning approximately 1,541 km from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City, represents a monumental investment of over 1.713 trillion VND (around $67.34 billion USD). The Vietnamese government envisions this high-speed line not only for passenger transport but also for dual-use purposes, including national defense and security, and potential cargo transport. The decision to divide the project into 17 independent sub-projects, as approved by the government, reflects a strategic approach to manage its complexity and facilitate phased implementation. This undertaking is particularly significant for Vietnam, as it aligns with the nation's broader goals of economic modernization, regional connectivity, and sustainable development.
