Vietnam's 2026 High School Graduation Exam: Key notes for the mathematics test

More than 1.2 million students across Vietnam are sitting for the mathematics portion of the 2026 high school graduation exam today, June 11. The exam, which begins at 2:30 PM, will last for 90 minutes and introduces a revised format for multiple-choice questions, as announced by the Ministry of Education and Training.

This year's mathematics exam includes three types of multiple-choice questions. The first type, familiar to students, involves selecting the correct option from several choices. The second type presents a statement with four options, requiring students to determine if each option is true or false. The third type is a short-answer format, where students must fill in the final numerical result on their answer sheet, a format considered closer to a free-response or essay-style thinking process.

Students are permitted to bring essential tools into the examination room, including pens, rulers, pencils, erasers, set squares, graph paper, drawing tools, and non-programmable calculators without text editing functions or memory cards. Strict adherence to specific regulations for the multiple-choice format is also required to ensure the integrity and orderliness of the examination process.

Following the release of the high school graduation exam results, Tuổi Trẻ newspaper, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Training's Department of Higher Education, will host two "Enrollment Guidance Days." These events are scheduled for July 4 in both Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. They aim to provide direct support and answer specific questions for students and parents navigating the university and college application period, including registration, adjustments, and supplementary applications.
