Vietnam's Banh Mi Festival Draws Huge Crowds, Vendors Sell Thousands Daily

Ho Chi Minh City is buzzing with culinary excitement as the 4th National Banh Mi Festival, held at Le Van Tam Park, attracts massive throngs of food enthusiasts. The event, running from April 23rd to 26th, has become a vibrant celebration of Vietnam's iconic sandwich, with both locals and tourists flocking to sample a diverse array of offerings.

Renowned establishments such as Huynh Hoa and ABC Bakery are experiencing overwhelming popularity, with customers forming lengthy queues that snake through the park. Huynh Hoa, known for its traditional banh mi, has seen customers patiently waiting up to 25 minutes, with many purchasing multiple baguettes at once. A vendor from Huynh Hoa reported selling thousands of baguettes on the first day alone, anticipating even higher numbers as the festival progresses, particularly during the evening peak hours.

Other participating bakeries, including Chan Nghiep and Hy Lam Mon, are also reporting brisk sales and high customer traffic. ABC Bakery, for instance, sold around 1,000 baguettes on its opening day and continues to see strong demand for its meat and beef stew baguettes. To maintain freshness and quality, many vendors are baking on-site. The festival not only highlights the beloved banh mi but also features a variety of other pastries and cakes, demonstrating the breadth of Vietnam's baking artistry and its appeal to a wide demographic, including younger generations.
