Villalba wins ANR primary in Concepción, eyes re-election; Añetete and Causa Republicana claim other districts

Concepción's current mayor, Bernardo "Berni" Villalba, has overwhelmingly won the internal elections for the National Republican Association (ANR) party, securing his candidacy for re-election. Villalba, representing the Honor Colorado (HC) faction, garnered 7,339 votes, significantly outpacing his rival Silvio Ayala of the Colorado Añetete movement, who received 2,934 votes.

The Colorado Añetete movement demonstrated strength by winning primary elections in three districts: Azotey, San Carlos del Apa, and Belén. However, the Causa Republicana movement achieved a notable victory in the district of Sargento José Félix López, commonly known as Puentesiño, with Humberto Centurión winning the mayoral primary there.

In other ANR primary results, Sergio Carrillo won in Horqueta, Héctor Giménez in Loreto, and Julián Ortiz in San Lázaro. Several districts featured single candidates, including Benigno Villanueva in San Alfredo and Bruno Piccinini in Paso Barreto. Arnaldo Barrios secured the win in Yby Yaú.

Simultaneously, the Liberal Radical Authentic Party (PLRA) also conducted its internal elections to select candidates for mayoral and municipal council positions. In Concepción, former mayor Alejandro Urbieta emerged as the consensus candidate. Blas Medina is the sole candidate for mayor in Belén. Other PLRA winners include Liz Felitas in Azotey, Jorge Centurión in Horqueta, Néstor Coronel in Puentesiño, Félix Díaz in Loreto, and Raúl Janeiro Lugo in San Carlos del Apa. Carlos González was the consensus candidate in San Lázaro, and Mario Báez in San Alfredo. Venancio Espinoza won in Yby Yaú, while Milciades Arce, the current mayor, won in Paso Barreto. Vicente Ortiz was the sole PLRA candidate in Arroyito, Cynthia Cabañas won in Paso Horqueta, and Palí Ferreira triumphed in Itacuá.
