Vilnius Days Festival Approaches, Bringing Major Traffic Restrictions

Vilnius is preparing for its biggest city festival, but visitors and residents will need to plan around a wide range of temporary traffic restrictions. Vilnius Days will bring three days of sport, literature, design, music, gastronomy and creative workshops to the capital.

From 9 a.m. on Sept. 3 until 7 a.m. on Sept. 7, vehicles will be barred from part of Gediminas Avenue, between Šventaragis and J. Tumo-Vaižganto Street, with access also restricted from side streets. Roads around Cathedral Square will close during concerts on Sept. 4 and 5, from 7 p.m. to midnight.

Additional restrictions will affect parking on Totorių Street and traffic on part of Vasario 16-osios Street. On the evenings of Sept. 4 and 5, some traffic will also be restricted on sections of A. Goštauto and J. Tumo-Vaižganto streets. The measures will remain in place at different times between Sept. 3 and Sept. 7.

Residents and businesses with permits for paid parking in the blue and red zones will be allowed to use other parking zones during the festival. Public transport will run more often on Sept. 5 and 6, including buses on routes 1G, 3G, 3G-A, 4G and 53, and trolleybuses on routes 2, 3, 7 and 17. Larger night buses will also operate for festivalgoers.
