Vilnius Police Investigate Doberman Attack on Poodle After Owner's Plea

Authorities in Vilnius are investigating a severe dog attack after a woman reported her poodle was maured by an unleashed Doberman. The incident, which occurred in the Žvėrynas district, left the poodle with critical injuries requiring multiple surgeries. While the dog survived, the owner, J. Varanavičius, shared harrowing details and images of the aftermath, including blood-stained clothing.

Varanavičius stated that the Doberman's owner has repeatedly been warned about keeping the animal leashed, but these warnings have been ignored. She described the attack as a persistent problem in the neighborhood, emphasizing that this time, her dog was lucky to be alive. She noted that while her poodle is recovering, the situation could have been far worse.

Following the public outcry and the woman's report, the Vilnius municipality's Public Order Department has engaged with Varanavičius. The electronic police system has updated the case status to 'under investigation,' indicating that official steps are being taken. Varanavičius expressed gratitude for the authorities' swift response and shared a message from someone named Rusnė, who promised to be more careful.
