Viral video shows foreigner promoting land sale in Bali's Kintamani

A video circulating on social media has sparked controversy by showing a foreign national promoting the sale of a 54-are (approximately 5,000 square meters) plot of land in Kintamani, Bali. The video has drawn significant attention from netizens, many of whom are questioning the legal right of foreigners to own land with freehold status in Indonesia.

In response to the viral video, Bangli Regent Sang Nyoman Sedana Arta stated that the local Kominfo (Communication and Information) office is investigating the matter. Sedana Arta noted that the specific location of the land being promoted in the video is unclear. He explained that while land in areas like Penelokan, Kintamani, may be permissible for development under certain conditions according to the regional spatial plan (RTRW), the ownership and exact coordinates of the land in question are yet to be verified.

This is not yet clear who the owner is and so on. It could be that people make content, the coordinates are also unknown and they wander the roads, there is a lot of forest owned by the ministry, there is also private land.

The video features the foreign man standing in a scenic area, highlighting the "best views in Kintamani" and suggesting the land is suitable for developers due to its panorama of Mount Batur and Lake Batur. He asks potential buyers, "What are you building?"

Sedana Arta pointed out that it is possible for individuals to create content without clear ownership or location details. He mentioned that some land might belong to the ministry or be privately owned, and without proper verification, it's difficult to ascertain the legitimacy of the promotion. The investigation aims to clarify the ownership and legality of the land sale being promoted.
