Voice Actor for Shrek Faces Sexual Abuse Lawsuit in Mexico City

Brenda Rivero has formally begun legal proceedings against Alfonso Obregón, the renowned voice actor for "Shrek," accusing him of sexual abuse. The Fiscalía General de Justicia of Mexico City has authorized the necessary expert analyses and evaluations for the case. Rivero, accompanied by her lawyer Gerardo Martín Rincón Flores, attended the Prosecutor's Office to initiate the legal process.

Rivero alleges that Obregón abused her when she was 16 years old and he was 50. "I am nervous about all this, it has not been easy, and I raised my voice for my colleagues too. It has been a complicated, difficult process, I just hope everything turns out well and that there is justice and that other colleagues raise their voices," Rivero stated. Obregón's side has not yet made contact with Rivero.

Rivero previously shared social media exchanges where Obregón allegedly proposed a secret relationship. She initially agreed but later felt uncomfortable due to his sexual advances and unwanted touching. Messages shared by Rivero's mother with Obregón reportedly show him acknowledging his actions toward the minor.

Rivero's lawyer mentioned that two additional individuals have contacted him with similar accusations against Obregón. "It is very easy to say that he is a victim, but I have to see; these are very delicate cases," he noted, emphasizing the need for identity verification and evidence before proceeding. The lawyer also revealed that Obregón reportedly attempted to leave the country, but authorities were alerted. He added that Obregón made a public apology on social media for past actions, promising not to repeat them.

While there is no set deadline for the expert examinations, the lawyer is optimistic about a swift conclusion. He stressed that abuse against a minor is a serious offense that does not expire. "What he did was serious, it is delicate. Women must be respected, and minors even more so," the lawyer asserted.
