Volkswagen Group strengthens Polish market leadership, electric sales surge

Warsaw, Poland – Volkswagen Group solidified its dominance in the Polish automotive market during the first half of 2026, with registrations increasing by 7.3% compared to the previous year. The group registered 82,846 passenger and light commercial vehicles, widening the gap with its closest competitors.

Overall, the Polish car market saw a 9.9% increase in registrations, with 350,537 vehicles sold between January and June 2026. Within this expanding market, Volkswagen Group's passenger car registrations reached 78,393 units, accounting for 25.12% of the market share. This means one in every four new passenger cars sold in Poland belonged to a Volkswagen Group brand.

Škoda led the group's growth with 32,856 registrations, an 8.81% increase, followed by Volkswagen with 22,700 units, up 10.86%. The Škoda Octavia remained the most popular model, with 11,046 registrations. Other notable models included the Volkswagen T-Roc and Cupra Formentor.

The group's electric vehicle (EV) sales also showed remarkable performance, growing by 53.59% year-on-year. This growth rate is more than three times the overall Polish EV market increase of 15.5% in the same period. Volkswagen Group brands registered 2,522 electric cars, with Škoda accounting for the largest share at 837 units.
