Vollering takes yellow jersey in Tour de France Femmes as Pogačar cheers fiancée Žigart

Demi Vollering seized the yellow jersey in the Tour de France Femmes after a commanding victory in the penultimate stage. The Dutch rider attacked on a steep climb just before the finish line in Nice, dropping previous leader Kasia Niewiadoma and Elisa Longo Borghini.

Vollering crossed the line 16 seconds ahead of Niewiadoma, establishing an eight-second overall lead heading into the final stage. Niewiadoma criticized Vollering's team for blocking her path on the climb, calling their tactics "childish" and stating she had lost all respect for them.

Celia Gery blocked me completely when she pulled off the front at the foot of the climb and pushed me to the barriers. If they want to beat me, they should do it fairly, but that was simply childish. I have now lost all respect for them.

The final stage is set to be a dramatic mountain race around Nice, featuring four ascents of the Col d'Eze. This climb is familiar territory for Slovenian cyclist Urška Žigart, who is competing in the race and whose fiancée, Tour de France winner Tadej Pogačar, was seen cheering her on during the previous stage. Pogačar, who recently finished the men's Tour, has been a visible supporter of Žigart as the race passes near their home in Monaco.
