Vorcaro's dialogue cites Jaques Wagner as intermediary for message to Lula, PF indicates

New evidence uncovered by Brazil's Federal Police suggests Senator Jaques Wagner, a key government figure in the Senate, may have acted as an intermediary for banker Daniel Vorcaro to relay messages to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. Vorcaro's phone contained messages indicating Wagner's role, according to the investigation.

Wagner, a close friend of Lula, is currently under investigation. Searches were conducted at his residence as part of "Operation Compliance Zero," related to suspicions of receiving bribes from Augusto Lima, a former partner of Vorcaro at Banco Master. Allegations include the illicit purchase of an apartment and payments to a family company.

These newly accessed dialogues reportedly show Vorcaro had a relationship with Wagner, arranged meetings, and had direct access to the senator's phone. The Federal Police interpret these exchanges as evidence of Vorcaro's perceived influence with politicians in Bahia, in addition to his alleged ties with Augusto Lima.

One particular conversation from July 2024 between Vorcaro and a Banco Master employee, Fernando Mascarenhas Filho, is highlighted. Vorcaro expressed satisfaction at being perceived as close to the federal government, comparing it to the Batista brothers, owners of the J&F group. He saw this perception as "marketing" and suggested sending the information to Lula and the allied base. Mascarenhas Filho responded by saying he would send it to "tio Guiga" (reportedly Guilherme Sodré, a close associate and financial operator for Wagner) and Jaques Wagner.
