"Vozinha" reports to Colo Colo, declares happiness on arrival in Chile

Cape Verde's national team goalkeeper, Josimar "Vozinha" Dias, a notable player from the 2026 World Cup, has arrived in Santiago, Chile, to complete his move to the renowned club Colo Colo. After several days of anticipation, Vozinha conveyed his "great happiness" upon arrival and thanked the fans for their patience.

"I am very happy to have arrived here and I thank the fans for the patience they have shown waiting for me," Vozinha told EFE. He expressed his excitement about joining "a great club" and promised the more than 300 fans who greeted him, "See you soon at the Monumental."

The veteran goalkeeper landed at Arturo Merino Benítez Airport in Santiago after a flight from Madrid. He was met by an enthusiastic group of Colo Colo supporters, who waved a Cape Verdean flag and chanted his name and team songs. Inside the airport, a crowd gathered to see him, with many more fans waiting outside behind barriers, eager for an interaction.

Vozinha, aged 40, experienced two consecutive delays in his arrival due to issues with his visa documentation and personal matters that required his attention. He is scheduled for rigorous medical examinations on Monday morning before signing a six-month contract, which includes a renewal option for an additional twelve months, potentially extending his stay until 2027.

The goalkeeper joins Colo Colo as a free agent after his contract with Chaves in Portugal's second division concluded. He was recognized as part of the FIFA World Cup 2026 ideal team, selected based on fan votes. Vozinha is expected to participate in his first training session with the squad on Tuesday morning, followed by an official presentation at the Monumental Stadium at midday. His debut match in Chile has not yet been scheduled.
