Wanted Man Arrested at Frankfurt Airport on International Warrant

Federal police arrested a 67-year-old man at Frankfurt Airport on August 21, who was wanted on an international arrest warrant issued by Spanish authorities. The man was attempting to travel from Palma de Mallorca to Geneva via Frankfurt when a routine hand luggage inspection raised suspicions.

An alarm was triggered during the baggage check, prompting airport security to involve the Federal Police. Upon verifying the man's identity, officers discovered the active international arrest warrant. The police stated that the suspect is believed to be a principal member of a criminal organization.

Spanish authorities allege that this organization is involved in large-scale financial crimes, including embezzlement and money laundering, with estimated losses in the millions of euros. The period under investigation spans from 2017 to 2024. The suspect reportedly utilized his company's structure to facilitate the transfer of funds from international investment and loan agreements.

Following his arrest, the 67-year-old was presented before the competent judge at the Frankfurt District Court. He has since been transferred to a correctional facility pending further legal proceedings.
