Warm weather wave to extend summer's farewell in Lithuania

Lithuania is preparing for a pleasant final act of summer, as a warm weather wave is set to bring higher temperatures before the season officially ends. Meteorologist Gytis Valaika, who runs the "Weather and Climate in Lithuania" Facebook page, forecasts a noticeable increase in warmth across the country.

The period of drier and warmer weather has begun. The past few days could have very much resembled September already, but warmer weather is gradually returning. A warmer air mass will reach Lithuania from the south and southwest.

Recent days saw temperatures hovering around 20-21 degrees Celsius, with some areas reaching 23 degrees on Wednesday. However, the forecast indicates a significant warming trend. By Thursday, many parts of Lithuania are expected to reach 20-24 degrees Celsius. This warming is projected to continue into Friday, with temperatures climbing to 20-25 degrees Celsius.

The weekend will bring a slight change as an atmospheric front passes through, bringing brief showers. Despite the possibility of rain on Saturday and Sunday, temperatures are expected to remain high, with forecasts suggesting 20-25 degrees Celsius on Saturday and 21-26 degrees Celsius on Sunday. The very last day of August is also not expected to be cool, with temperatures predicted to rise between 22 and 27 degrees Celsius.

Looking ahead, Valaika's current calculations suggest that the beginning of September might bring cooler conditions. However, for the remainder of August, residents can expect a welcome return to summery warmth, offering a final chance to enjoy the season's pleasant weather.
