Warsaw parade: Traffic disruptions from August 14, with street closures and public transport changes

Warsaw residents and visitors should prepare for substantial traffic disruptions as the city hosts a military parade to commemorate Polish Army Day. The event, scheduled for Saturday, August 15, will necessitate road closures and public transport alterations starting Friday, August 14.

According to the Ministry of National Defense, the restrictions will be in place from Friday afternoon until the conclusion of the ceremonies on Saturday afternoon. Key thoroughfares, including both lanes of Wisłostrada from the Skłodowska-Curie Bridge to the Łazienkowski Bridge, will be closed. Several other streets, such as Gwiaździsta, Krasińskiego, and Krajewskiego, will also face closures or restricted access.

Public transportation will be significantly affected, with changes planned for bus and tram routes. Notably, the Gdański Bridge will be closed to pedestrians and cyclists from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on August 15. Additionally, the Śląsko-Dąbrowski Bridge will be closed to pedestrians and cyclists from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., along with the pedestrian-bicycle bridge and an underpass near ul. Romana Sanguszki.

The parade is a central part of the Polish Army Day celebrations, a significant national holiday. The extensive closures are necessary to ensure the security and smooth execution of the military display, which will feature troops and equipment. Commuters are advised to seek alternative routes and allow for considerably longer travel times during the affected period.
