Warsaw Southern Hospital Board Dismissed Amid Probe

Warsaw Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski announced the dismissal of the entire board of the Southern Hospital on Thursday, stating the decision was made at his request. Aneta Gomółka-Siembora, an expert in healthcare audits and public procurement, will take over as the new CEO.

Gomółka-Siembora's primary task will be to cooperate closely with institutions investigating alleged mismanagement at the facility. Trzaskowski emphasized that all doubts must be thoroughly and transparently investigated, promising further personnel consequences and updates.

The shake-up comes amid media reports concerning Dawid Kacprzyk, the former coordinator of the hospital's emergency department. Kacprzyk allegedly earned 1.6 million Polish zloty last year and faced accusations of providing preferential treatment to politicians from the Civic Coalition (KO) party, including bypassing queues and fast-tracking examinations.

Kacprzyk has since resigned from his KO party membership and as a district councilor. He also requested the suspension of his membership in the Warsaw District Medical Council. Reports indicate he has returned half a million zloty to the hospital, with the city hall confirming he corrected 33 invoices from January 2025 to June 2026.

The Southern Hospital has filed a criminal complaint with the prosecutor's office regarding potential fraud that led to a detrimental disposition of the hospital's assets. The National Inspectorate of Labour and the professional responsibility ombudsman are also investigating the matter.
