Water Bottles Thrown During Heated Argument at Çankaya Municipal Council Meeting

Tensions flared during a Çankaya municipal council meeting in Turkey, reportedly leading to a physical altercation involving the mayor and a council member. The incident is said to be a consequence of ongoing internal disputes within the Republican People's Party (CHP) following a controversial leadership decision.

According to reports, Çankaya Mayor Hüseyin Can Güner made remarks at the meeting that seemed to target supporters of a particular faction within the party. He allegedly stated, "Anyone who talks to these people should stop greeting me," signaling a deep division. This comment was reportedly made in reference to the ongoing debate surrounding a recent party decision, which has created friction.

CHP Council Member Sinan Uslu, who is reportedly aligned with the faction Güner criticized, responded heatedly. Uslu claimed the mayor insulted them and demanded that anyone not supporting his stance should "speak their mind today." The situation rapidly deteriorated when Mayor Güner allegedly stood up and threw a water bottle at Uslu. This act triggered a further exchange, with reports suggesting that water bottles were thrown back and forth between the two, necessitating the intervention of security personnel to de-escalate the conflict.
