'We Run to Go Far' by Dequení: Over 1,600 Supporters Gather for Paraguayan Children

Solidarity and sport converged in Paraguay as the annual Corrida Dequení 2026 successfully gathered more than 1,600 participants. Under the banner 'We Run to Go Far,' the event on Sunday, June 28, united a diverse crowd of running enthusiasts and compassionate individuals dedicated to supporting Paraguayan children.

The corrida saw a significant turnout from 51 committed companies and organizations, alongside individual runners, families, and children. Participants competed in various categories, including a 5K Individual, Corporate, and Organization races, a "Carrerí" event, and a Kids Run. The event's venue was the Sede Social de Jubilados Bancarios, which buzzed with a familial and supportive atmosphere.

Melanie Reckziegel, executive director of Dequení, expressed gratitude for the overwhelming response. "Thanks to all the people who said yes to this run and to Dequení. Each participant made it possible for us to continue generating opportunities for more than 8,400 children and adolescents," she stated. "Our goal is for children to go far."

The funds generated from the corrida are vital for Dequení's socio-educational projects, which benefit over 8,400 children and adolescents. Beyond the athletic competition, the event provided hydration, recovery zones, entertainment, and family-friendly activities, creating a holistic experience. The event's significance was further recognized as it was declared of interest to children and adolescents by Paraguay's Ministry of Childhood and Adolescence, Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security, and the National Secretariat of Youth.
